Who Am I?

Hello! My name is Sophie Riches. I’m an Indigenous-Canadian illustrator and certified scribbler from the Seneca Nation of the Six Nations of the Grand River. I love creating colourful, quirky, and delightfully fun illustrations for picture books and stories.

My work is playful and expressive, with a focus on texture and character illustration. When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my pets, drinking coffee, playing my favourite video games, and watching documentaries!

I have had lots of experience creating fun illustrations and bringing things to life through my art and design. I completed an internship with the Brantford-Brant Norfolk Ontario Health Team as an illustration and design intern. I’ve earned my Honours Baccalaureate Degree in Illustration (Sheridan College), as well as an Advanced Diploma in Visual and Creative Arts (Sheridan College). I am also the recipient of the ‘Canadian Community Arts Initiative Award’ (2026).
